Multicam editing is a very useful feature in Final Cut, but it can be kind of tricky to get things set up right. Richard Harrington over at Creative Cow walks you through basic set up in an ideal situation in this tutorial, and throws in a couple great shortcuts along the way.

cool tutorial, but there’s obviously a lot that didn’t get covered. We saw multiclipping by inpoints, but can it be done by outpoints, timecode and auxillary timecode? Let’s say you’re multiclipping a reality shoot and you’ve got 6 cameras that were shooting for 12 hours one day, without using a slate. Is there a way to auto timeline that footage, sync it up and then multiclip by aux tc?
You’re right, this is only one way. If you find any tutorials covering other ways of doing it (and there are tons), shoot us a line, we’d love to post it.
